Hubby Saves The Day!

23 April 2010 - by Travel Counsellors,

Thursday 15th April

8am Receive email from head office that an ash cloud from a volcano in Icelend means UK airspace is closed. How bizarre! Need to contact my clients

10.30am Watch TCTV webcast for the latest news from head office. I’ve run a report in my Contact Centre and have a list of clients affected. The Kemp family are in Rome and due back tomorrow. Mr Kemp texts me joking ‘Send me a car!’

Friday 16th April

10am The airports haven’t reopened, so onto Plan B for the Kemps. Booked them into a hotel in Rome and looking into later flights.

Saturday 17th April

10.30pm Spoke to Mr Kemp as I have been emailing car hire companies in Rome all day, but nothing available. Think about getting them to Paris and collecting them myself.

Sunday 18th April

7.30am There’s no way of getting the Kemps to Paris. My husband Colin doesn’t fancy the idea of me driving to Rome, so he volunteers to do it himself! Bless him!

9.30am Mr Kemp has booked them onto a train to Turin. At least that is what he thinks, it’s all in Italian! We translate the tickets on the internet and all ok.

3pm Colin leaves for Turin complete with food parcel and DVDs to keep the kids entertained.

Monday 19th April

1pm The Kemps arrive in Turin and set off on their way home with Colin. Mr Kemp says it’s the best taxi service he has ever had!

Tuesday 20th April

9am Colin and The Kemps arrive home safely. Mr Kemp says “Jennifer was absolutely brilliant and went above and beyond. I’m going to tell everyone to book their holidays with Jennifer (and their limo requirements with Colin!)”
