Travel Counsellors achieved the best July day in its history this week.

The company, which operates in seven countries and supports 1,200 travel agents worldwide from its Bolton head office, recorded sales of over £1.3m on Tuesday 6 July.

Travel Counsellors also said England’s FIFA World Cup defeat had boosted bookings, after seeing sales jump 45% on Tuesday 29 June compared with the previous Tuesday when the team was still in the competition.

Managing director, Steve Byrne, commented: ‘While all eyes were on the England team some holidaymakers looking at holidays later in the year held back on booking travel arrangements, although customers looking for a quick getaway during the World Cup were up nearly 50% on last year.

‘There are some fantastic summer holiday deals available at the moment and many of our customers have taken advantage of these over the last seven days.’

Travel Counsellors’ most popular destinations for July and August are Egypt and Turkey, as customers seek more value for their money away from the eurozone.
