Show me the way to go home…

22 April 2010 - by Travel Counsellors,

One of my clients was stranded in Lanzarote and was meant to be back on 17th April…… as they had to be at Stansted airport to pick up their child who was returning on a flight from France (or not as the case may be).

The return flight was cancelled with the airline but I managed to rebook them back to the UK for Monday, be it that it did mean they would fly back separately and to different airports. My clients spirits remained high and we constantly stayed in touch over the weekend. However more disappointment came on Monday when the airline cancelled all flights until Wednesday. This didn’t help my client as he needed to get home and didn’t care how.

Tuesday evening we received news that UK airspace was to open, I immediately called him and advised him to be ready to check out as I was determined to get him home.

After trying to get through to the airline for most of Wednesday morning, I had him booked on a flight for that evening….transfers arranged and collection from the UK airport on his return.

Last night at midnight I received the text …. back on UK soil, thank you so much.  I called back and said my job was now done and I could get my head down.

Keeping in touch with my clients made our relationship stronger, without me he would have been completely in the dark and certainly very much out of pocket.
